Anyone, if they want, can observe and measure scrap, but exposing the hidden factory and more importantly, why it exists, requires a different set of skills than sorting parts.
The good news is there are logical ways to identify and eliminate much of the hidden factory. This presentation will apply simple statistical techniques to solve perplexing problems in a chicken processing plant and in an aerospace component manufacturer.
