About the AIAG & Its Annual Quality Summit

The Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) was founded in 1982 by the three largest North American OEMs. It is a not-for-profit organization where companies in the automotive industry worked collaboratively to drive down cost and complexity in the supply chain. Since its humble beginnings, AIAG has grown its membership to nearly 5,000 member companies.

AIAG holds its Quality Summit annually to highlight IATF 16949 and other important industry updates. It is dedicated to helping companies achieve higher levels of product quality, operational efficiency, and compliance with global standards. Every year, AIAG brings together quality management professionals, software solution providers, and industry thought leaders to explore advancements in the field.

This year, it is focusing on new and evolving industry requirements from both the OEM and supplier-specific perspectives on electrification and other cutting-edge technologies that are shaping the automotive landscape. Some of the topics will include:

  • Data is the New Capital in Manufacturing Quality
  • IATF 16949 & Rules Sixth Updates
  • Joint AIAG VDA SPC Update
  • Automating the Control Plan in Highly Automated Processes
  • Safety Recall Processes for Over the Air Software Updates in Autonomous Driving
  • Implementing the New APQP & Control Plan within an EV Environment

Advantive is attending this year to not only showcase our robust SPC solutions, but to gain insights into the emerging trends and customer needs.

Leveraging Real-Time Data in Manufacturing Quality

Data is a critical asset in modern manufacturing that helps businesses drive efficiency, ensure consistent product quality, and minimize defects. Traditional manufacturing heavily relied on manual processes with limited automation, where insights on data were typically derived from historical data and periodic reports. This led to reactive decision-making that could cost businesses a lot of money due to lack of efficiency and the cost of waste, rework, and scrap.

Enter Industry 4.0, where the integration of technology, big data, and automation revolutionizes manufacturing. Manufacturers now leverage real-time data and analytics to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvements. Here’s what real-time data and analytics drive in modern manufacturing:

  • Informed Decision Making: Data enables manufacturers to make better decisions by providing real-time insights into production processes, machine performance, and product quality, leading to quicker, more accurate adjustments and process optimization.
  • Predictive Maintenance: Manufacturers can predict when equipment will fail or require maintenance by leveraging data from the machines. It leads to minimized downtime and reduced costs for the manufacturing plant.
  • Process Optimization: Real-time data helps to identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks in the process, which helps to drive continuous process improvements, reduce the amount of waste, scrap and rework, and improve resource usage.
  • Quality Control: Data enables the real-time monitoring of product quality and helps detect defects early to ensure consistent production standards.

With factories being fully integrated through the Internet of Things (IoT), real-time data is vital to connect machines, people, and systems together, allowing for real-time updates and collaborative workflows. This not only enhances efficiency but also ensures that manufacturing processes are more adaptable, precise, and sustainable.

Editorial standards

Fact-checking & editorial guidelines

Every article on advantive.com is written and reviewed against an internal accuracy standard before publication. Here's what that means in practice.

  • Product claims are verified by the brand team that owns the platform.

When an article references InfinityQS, WinSPC, PQ Systems, Pinpoint, ParityFactory, ProPlanner, KiwiPlan, DDI System, VeraCore, or any of Advantive's other specialty platforms, the relevant product team checks technical statements about features, deployment, and current capability before the article goes live.

  • External statistics cite their source inline.

When an article references industry survey results, regulatory benchmarks, or third-party research, the source is linked at the point of citation. Statements without an inline source link are first-party observations drawn from Advantive's product teams or customer base.

  • Publication and revision dates stay visible.

The original publication date and the most recent revision date are both shown on every article. Topics that change quickly — AI capabilities, regulatory rules, product roadmaps — are revisited on a tighter cadence than evergreen reference content.

  • Corrections are issued openly.

If a factual error is reported, the article is updated, the revision date advances, and material corrections are noted at the bottom of the article so readers can see what changed and when.

Found something wrong, or have a citation to add? Get in touch with the editorial team and we'll review it.
